Inventions
The amazing thing about Guy Lestician is that there is no documented list of the things he has invented.
If you put his name into a Google search and you will find pages or patents filed by Guy. There's one article on Guy but other than that ... there's nothing. He doesn't seek publicity, but he would like to be acknowledged for the things he invents. He has tried to claim ownership of some patents but has given up in court when those in charge treat him like a fool when asked his occupation. "Inventor," he will tell them. They look at him as though he's mad ... and he drifts quietly back to his home and vents his frustration on wires and probes and anything else he can lay his hands on
Below are a few things he told me about. There is no real order but it's a start to acknowledging the amazing bredth of this man's furtile mind.
- He can make two different items talk to each other, for instance, a blood interface analyzer – went into a computer to analyze blood and the analyzer then talked to the computer with the readout.
- Letter sorting machine – instant re-start. Ability to light up the scanner again if a letter got jammed in the machine. Run by a sodium light.
- LED clock – first designed digital clock. Worked with the company LED to design this. The casing is metal and covered with leather. Battery operated and handmade March 1975. This is the sort of thing his father helped fund.
- The first laser gun scanner for supermarkets.
- Dimmer ballast Interface – sampled 12 tubes of blood at a time – could interface with computer.
- A speaking computer which was fitted to cars and when a person got within a certain distance from the car, a voice would say something like, “Get away from the vehicle”, etc. At the time he worked for Tokyo Electrics and was funded through Viper.
- He worked with the blind to develop a talking chip.
- A poker for a totally paralyzed disabled lady he knew, which was attached by a band to her head. It was a remote control and changed tv channels. It always talked to her with a few phrases which were built into it.
- A foetal monitor for pregnant women.
- The ping-pong game you play on tv (1972).
- A light system which had no mercury and the system powered street lights which were able to be turned off and turned back on immediately. The existing systems required you to wait about 15 minutes until the tube cooled down before they were able to be turned back on again. The system ionized the gas – it could be frozen solid and would make no difference as it wasn’t looking for mercury. Phillips started the long-life bulbs with the product – Guy’s company at that time was called Ice Caps.
- Speed control for boat – wires
- System to run the Hot Wheels (made these for Matel)
- Plastic cleaner which he designed at school
